Contest

While just about any boomerang can be used in a contest, the ones tagged here have been used and proven in contests in the USA and Europe, as well as World Cup Events.

The Boomerang Man recommends contest boomerangs for experienced throwers. If you have thrown other types and are enjoying good returns, you should be able to master these contest ‘rangs.

You may wonder just what sort of events are part of a throwing contest.

Here are a few of the events you might find in a typical boomerang competition:

FAST CATCH: Standing the the center of a 20 meter circle, time how fast you can throw and catch 5 throws.

AUSSIE ROUND: Standing in the center of a series of circles spaced 20m, 30m, 40m, and 50m, you receive points for distance thrown, return accuracy, and for catching.

DOUBLING: Throwing two ‘rangs, catching both upon return.

JUGGLING: Throwing two ‘rangs, one after the other, catching the first throw before launching the second throw and repeating until you miss a catch.

ACCURACY: Throw from the center of a one-meter circle, and land the return as close to the center of the circle you possibly can.

MAXIMUM TME ALOFT (MTA): A timed event. Your score is based on how long the boomerang stays in the air AND you make the catch within a 50-meter circle. Sometimes a 100-meter circle is used.

There are numerous other kinds of challenges, but these I’ve listed are probably the most popular and enjoyable events.
